A sterling silver rare plain example of an Asprey "Wafer" model petrol lighter. The lighter is exceptional quality and very comfortable to carry, on account of its very thin size. Hence where the name derived. The body of this piece is without adornment, which is quite unusual in this model. They tended to be engine turned with various patterns. It is easy to use, and simple to refill making this not only a handsome and inconspicuous piece to carry, but also a great piece to actually use. The piece was made by and retailed by Asprey. This company, still in existence today, are the Cartier of England. Everything that they made was, and remains today, exceptional quality. This is why their vintage pieces stand the test of time, and work as well today as they did the year they were manufactured. The piece is in excellent condition, and comes with the original moiré carrying pouch. There are full assay control marks for Asprey and silver on every removable piece of the lighter, as is the law under the English Assay Office. Each removable piece is tested to ensure nothing is added that is not consistent with the overall metal statement. It was made in London, England, 1968.
