This is an exceptionally rare and exquisite solid eighteen carat gold Cartier Browning Gun lighter.
The lighter is illustrated in "Accendini" by Stefano Bisconcini, the encyclopedia for important lighters, and was the first book exclusively devoted to lighters, published in 1983. The only one other example of this piece is in the most prestigious lighter collection in the world.
The lighter is in full working condition, simply needing lighter fuel to obtain a flame. The lighter has French eagle head control marks for eighteen carat gold and the maker AP. The maker has not been identifiable. Made circa 1916.
