A gold plated, pocket lighter with a very unusual finish made by the best known luxury retailer of smoking accessories; Dunhill. Alfred Dunhill took over his father's saddlery business in London, Henry's, and turned it into one of the finest destinations for accessories for the modern gentleman. Initially developing a unique line of motoring accessories, because this mode of transport was rapidly developing, he later went on to make pipes, lighters and anything else the modern gentleman traveller would need.
This is a butane lighter, for which the gas is still available to purchase. The lighter is in exceptional condition. Made in Switzerland, where Dunhill went on to make a number of their finer grade lighters at the 'La Nationale' factory. The piece dates circa 1972, which saw the introduction of a new concealed hinge and a new flame adjustment wheel design. Also, note the concentric design to the fuel cover. This is a deadstock piece and is complete with the original box.
