The creation of Atticco's Dabu (mud resist technique) scarf line starts with the preparation of a sticky mixture, consisting of wet desert clay, beedan (Wheat Chaff) and lime. This paste is then stamped on to the fabric, using a hand-carved wooden block. After this, sawdust is tossed on the patterns, and it begins to dry. Next, the scarves are soaked in a bath of natural dyes for several hours. The mud substance works as a resist, so when the sawdust shakes off, gorgeous patterns are revealed!
